Twenty-two year old Atlanta Rapper Mulatto drops the “Mu” and officially changes her name to Latto

Latto also released the music video for her song The Biggest, produced by Akachi and Supah Mario.

In the song, she addresses the name change, rapping “Don’t want no sympathy just know I changed it / I’ll be damned if the name the reason I don’t make it / It contradicted what I stand for / The backlash ain’t what I planned for / Now I know better, so I’m moving better”.

Latto also addressed the name change in her interview with Hot Freestyle back in January. She said: “You know, you might know your intentions, but these are strangers who don’t know you, never even met you in person. So you gotta hear each other out, and if you know those aren’t your intentions and that’s how it’s being perceived, it’s like why not make a change or alter it? For me, it was the name. So now I’m like, ‘OK, my intentions was to never glorify being mulatto.’”
